So today I went fishing with my neighbor.
We've been talking more and more about web stuff.
Specifically a site about fishing
which is his "thing."
If you've got a "thing" why not do a site?
Especially if others have a "thing"
with your "thing."
So I brought the digital camera
and filmed him casting and reeling.
I tried casting, wasn't working out.
Got my hook stuck twice, water was cold
wading in, to get it.
He said not to be worried about losing the lure
because we'd only gotten them at the dollar store.
He used one he made himself.
He says he uses ox tail and chicken hackles.
The hackles are a type of feather.
Ox tail is what that is. An ox's tail.
Thick hair that is as thick as a mane
that comes from an ox.
A type of bovine.
Anyway, he got some dyed different colors.
He says that muskies like pink.
Bright pink, neon pink.
He showed me where he found the bones.
We found a couple of bones in the water, but left them.
He said the bones we found were animal bones.
Saw a starling. It has crow-like features, but a bluish neck
and about a third of the size of a crow.
He told me that some fish can eat ducks whole.
Crazy, eh?
Yeah, was a nice day.
Only rained in the morning.
It was decent all day.
Didn't catch anything, was close, though.
He lifted it out of the water, saw the size,
But it got away.
Didn't have the camera rolling at the time.
But we found a turtle coming up the bank,
to get to the "marsh" behind us...
So I picked it up, and we released it
into the marsh otherwise
it would have taken the turtle all night
just to get up the riverbank itself.
Anyway, not all footage'll yield a catch,
but that's just fishing.
Not every cast's a catch.
But I picked up two domains.
I picked up one about fishing specifically.
A name he picked out.
I also picked out one, related to fishing.
So he can have a "sister site" about bait and lures.
He wants to make videos about fly tying etc.
And if we can get his site really going, slowly, but...
Actually going...
He can use his sites to promote gear etc.
I just stand off to the side, behind him.
To film his pov.
But more like my pov as his pov
if that makes sense?
Close enough to capture what he's saying...
Filming his hands, his casts etc.
And I found something I'm going to promote on mine.
On one of mine...
So it'll be a project.
I'm using one of my sites as a template for other sites.
Anyway, keeping myself busy, I guess.
Been taking this week pretty easy.
Tuesday was too much wtf for me
that I blew my wtf limit...
And have had to recharge.
But it's been alright.
Been working on that.
Found a couple of "lawn chairs"
for my balcony...
Now my neighbor and I can sit outside
and smoke.
And whoever else stops by....
If they do.
No answer when I call my brother.
He was calling me back
so I don't know what's going on.
If he's mad and not talking
or something.
Anyway, not like I have had many visitors
other than my neighbor.
His site could become something.
And he said he could teach me how to tie flies.
Make lures, the ones he's shown me,
that he made himself.
And the one he used today....
He almost caught something.
Was very close.
Fishing is an "evergreen" niche.
There's always going to be fishing.
And he has years of experience with it.
So why not do something with it?
And if you can cash in on it, why not?
The dude's in his 60s.
Probably a good time to start saving, right?
Besides that, having a source of income
that gets generated from something
he actually likes to do.
So hobbies etc can hold "water" and even fish lol.
Especially with others who have similar hobbies.
Sunday, he's going with one of the guys in the building.
So maybe he can ask that guy to get in on the filming, also.
So that I won't be designated "filmer"
because I have other stuff to be filming.
For my other sites.
And maybe he'll do a podcast for his site.
He mentioned "podcast"
but he has no idea how to do any of this stuff.
If he can get some other people involved
so that he's not relying heavily on me
to help him create all his content,
then I'll definitely help him upload it to the internet.
On his site, on youtube, he hasn't got his own accounts yet.
Hosting his stuff on my account shouldn't be a problem
because I'm already paying for mine.
His doesn't cost extra to add.
He just got a new email address.
But he doesn't use computers at all.
So I'm trying to tell him about facebook marketplace
and stuff like that, but he'll have to have his own accounts
for some stuff, like his affiliate side of it.
And when it comes to any monetizing of anything.
It'd be cool if it takes off.
I'd be so happy for him.
Whether mine does is whatever.
I'm experimenting right now.
Nothing wrong with that, right?
I've got the ideas. Just takes time
to implement everything.
I'm getting tired, though.
Maybe a lot on my mind.
That's why I want to include others,
but with anything, it only takes one person
to mess up anything.
And that one person is usually me
even when I don't want to be, or want to...
Just that if others had something that felt
like it's their's, they might feel motivated.
And once it is built to a certain "level"
can always add to it, easily.
That's where I'm hoping to be, soon-ish.
With the first site, then just kinda copy it over,
in the "format" and change the content.
Because if you find something that works, why not keep using it?
Plus, it makes it easier and faster to add stuff.
I'm fading hard at the moment, though.
