Some Sort Of Loop

The other night, there was a "light show."
My neighbor and I were on the balcony, 
smoking one, and we saw the first strike. 

Lightning. 

We watched the sky while talking. 
Saw some more cracks, but we didn't
hear any thunder and it hadn't started raining. 

He said it was probably a "front"
that was far off in the distance. 

He said that the main road leads to a highway, 
(not the main highway in this city).
And the highway leads to a place called
Morrisburg. 

I don't recall ever going there. 

The furtherest south I've gone
was that camp place
that has "retreats" for families
who are low income like my family was
when we went there. 

That was the year
that "I Saw The Sign"
was hugely popular...
That song. 

Anyway, pretty sure
that's as south as I've been. 
Down that main road. 

Who knows how far away that front was. 
It started raining last night, though...

The cops were here, last night. 

One guy, on this floor, 
I was told to "stay out of it,"
but his "girlfriend" is an @ddict...

She's always pounding on his door,
yelling and whining
about how she needs her "medication."

He doesn't want to answer his door
because of the scenes she causes.

The neighbors are always calling the cops. 
The cops were here last night. 
They arrested her and released her I guess...

Because she's been here, twice today, 
and now she's back for the third time...

I can hear her, down the hall...
The other end of the hall...

We all can hear her, on this floor. 

Sometimes they arrest him, 
sometimes they arrest her...

Earlier today, I heard her yelling
about how the cops threw her pills in the garbage
the night before....

And when the cops escorted her out of the building, 
I saw her from the balcony, 

Going through the garbage can, 
in the front of the building....

I guess they threw the pills in there, 
the night before...

She was looking for her "pills."

Anyway, I'm pretty sure
that tonight's her third time here
since she literally got arrested
last night.

The cops are here, now, again. 
They'll probably arrest her, again.

Not a lot they can charge her with. 
"Disturbing the peace."
Something like that.

But they'll release her
and she'll come right back here...

Yelling and whining, pounding on his door. 
Causing a "scene" about her "medication."

He'll probably end up getting kicked out. 
We're all tired of this BS.

I can hear the cops' radios down the hall, 
and her whining...

I don't know how she keeps getting into the building, 
but when she does, she does the same thing. 

The cop just said:
"You don't live here, let's go."

You'd think that she'd clue in:
After the cops came numerous times before, 
and twice today, even. 

She got arrested LAST NIGHT FFS.

And the cops have already been here earlier...
I literally woke up to this, today. 

After she left, I went back to sleep. 

It's not just this that's exhausting...
I've just been exhausted.

The cop as they're getting in the elevator:
"You can't be here. If you come back here,
again, tonight, I'm going to arrest you
and you'll spend the night in a cell."

And this is a "thing" that's been ongoing. 
Before I moved here...

So the neighbor who comes to visit me...
He had warned me about it.

Anyway, we were chilling, last night.
And I guess he'd been looking at my @ss.
"You've got a cute butt."

"No. I don't."
"You don't?"
"I have a butt like everyone else."
"Oh. Okay."

Like how many times did he look at it
before saying something to me about it?

It bugged me, but I didn't get overly angry about it.

It bugs me because I already told him
that I don't want a boyfriend
when he asked me if I have a boyfriend. 

And the "comments" he's made here and there.

Like the comment he made when he left the guitar here...

I had said that his guitar
could spend the night with mine.

"Lucky guitar... I wish I was a guitar..."

So I said that if he was a guitar
he could only spend the night
with other guitars.

Made some comment about
wishing he could spend the night with me.

If I haven't been interested
and have shown zero interest
IN ANY OF HIS ADVANCES...
WHY STILL MAKE ADVANCES?

LIKE I'M MAGICALLY GOING TO
JUST CHANGE MY MIND?
EVENTUALLY?

That stuff bugs me.

He could have just accepted my "stance"
the very first time...
When he asked me if I have a boyfriend.

Usually, there's a reason why
guys ask me if I have a boyfriend. 

And usually, it's not just because
they want to know if I do.

Because there's a reason behind
wanting to know. 

But "brusing them off"
doesn't seem to do "the trick."
And if they got the point...

The first time I dodged an advance...
There probably wouldn't be any more advances.

Even if I'm really polite about it...
Which I really try to be.
Without getting angry about it.

Anyway, back to the neighbors down the hall...
Well, the guy lives here. She doesn't. 

You'd THINK that after getting ARRESTED
literally LAST NIGHT
THAT SHE'D LEARN...

JUST TO NOT COME BACK...

And that whining, yelling, and pounding
on his door just gets the cops called. 

And that IF she doesn't want to get ARRESTED
AGAIN...

THAT SHE'S NOT WELCOME HERE

Otherwise, it'd be pretty quiet, here.

I've only heard my upstairs neighbor, twice.

My neighbor, next door, I can hear him, 
but he's not been "loud" in quite a while. 

I mostly just mind my own business...

I'll go look outside
to see how the cops are "handling" things
when they're outside the building... 

I bet the people on the second floor
get to hear more...

It isn't any of my business, I know...

And I heard that in the summer....
The cops are here all the time.

There hasn't been anything major going on. 

The guy who jumped from the 14th floor...
That's probably as "major" as it's been, here, 
in a long time...

Since that other guy...
He was trying to "scale" the balconies
to try to get away from a guy
who was trying to chase him down...

He fell from the 17th floor...
In 2017.

Those are the only two major "occurences"
that I know of... 

The guy from the 17th floor...
That popped up on a search of the place
before I moved here...

I had the address of this place
so I searched the address
to see the place before I moved here...

Like on "Google maps" or whatever.
And THAT came up...

The guy who was chasing him down
ended up getting manslaughter charges...

Because he contributed to the guy's death. 
Wasn't the entire cause of it
because the guy did try scaling the balconies....
And fell. He wasn't pushed. 

At least that's what I heard. 

Anyway, my neighbor was saying:
"You could write a book about this place."
And asked me if I heard of "Faulty Towers."
I said I had heard of it, never read it. 

But I added "Faultier Towers" LOL. 
He got a laugh out of it.

I then said: "Maybe Faultiest Towers."
He said that Faultier is better
because it leaves room for improvement LOL.

That was before the "light show" started.

We ended up coming back inside, 
turned the lights out...
Well the kitchen light, 
and living room light...

Just had enough light
from a tiny little lamp thing I have
and I lit a candle near the window...

Just enough light so we weren't in complete darkness...
Just to watch the lightning...
Facing the window.

We usually just face each other...
He goes on and on, telling me stories...

The other night, he told me about
some guy who was working for
the same company he was working for...

They were doing a painting job...
And the guy....
He was too "lazy" to get a ladder
so he was standing on a bucket of paint....

5 L of orange paint...
Well, he was too heavy for the lid on that can
and he "went through" the lid...

And it acted kind of like a compressor. 
Paint went up, around the guy, 
hit the walls, and the ceiling. 

The dude had paint all over him...

And my neighbor told me that they had to paint
the ceiling FIVE TIMES
to cover the orange paint
that hit the ceiling LOL.

About a week or so before that...
He told me about how a guy he knows...
How that guy got his vehicles impounded etc.

Up here, (Canada), we have what they call
MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES...

These guys are like a federal type of "police."
They have more "power" than the police...

So my neighbor explained that the guy he knows...
Had a cottage "on the Quebec side."

The guy and his buddy had gone to the guy's cottage
to lock it down for the season. 

People who have cottages prepare the cottages
for the winter, so they do whatever little
maintenance things
before they "board it up" for the winter...

They leave their cottages boarded up all winter
and come back when the weather's decent
to unboard, unlock... Etc...

So the two dudes were doing that, 
preparing it for the winter...

They took the guy's boat out on the lake...
They were just doing "a little fishing."
They were catching AND RELEASING,
but a warden was watching them
from afar with binoculars...

The wardens' job to watch the lakes...
To enforce the "no fishing out of season" rules...

Even though they released what they caught...

So the "feds" took his stuff and it took years
to get it back. 

His vehicles sat in the impound lot
for over 2 years...
And they have to pay impound fees
plus insurance...

I'm talking about daily fees...
Anywhere from $100 to $300, daily...
Plus insurance...

That adds up.

I don't know what happens
if the person can't pay their fees...

Anyway, what my neighbor also told me, 
last night...

Is that if a person has a gun without a permit for it...
THEY CAN GET 25 YEARS IN JAIL
FOR JUST HAVING IT.

EVEN IF THEY NEVER FIRED IT
OR SH0T ANYONE WITH IT...

JUST HAVING IT WITHOUT A PERMIT
IS 25 YEARS...

He added that even having BULLETS...
5 YEARS/BULLET.

Wild, eh?
We take that very seriously. 

We talked a bit about politics...
Just about how "they" had to close down
the stock market
because of Trump...

And that a lot of Americans want to come to Canada.

One guy on my floor... We cross paths...
He told me he's from Sudbury
and how he's glad he came here
because, according to him, 
Sudbury's "a dive."

He said that O-town's "better"
because there's "more to do" here...

Apart from having "more to do,"
we're not much "better"
than the other "dives" in this country.

I didn't say it to the guy, about this place, 
but it's true. 

Same drug issues, crime issues, etc...

Maybe even more because it's a bigger "city"
and larger population... 

Despite "all there is 'to do'"
I usually, and mostly, stay home.

Especially in the winter.

I haven't gone to that winter festival
since my son was a kid. 

I think we only went once
because neither of us like being cold. 

When I was a kid, they made
huge snow "casles" with "ice slides."
And it was awesome...

All the kids wearing their "snow pants"
sliding down the "ice slides..."

There were dog sled races
and the maple syrup
that they pour over the ice, 
and we take a "popsicle stick"
and roll the syrup around the stick...
And eat it off the stick...

I thought to metion, on here, 
that the "beaver tails" that we eat...

ARE PASTRIES. 
They aren't actual beavers' tails. 

It's a flat pastry that is called a 
"beaver tail" because it's our "national animal"
and it's flat. Like a beaver's tail. 

I don't know why I felt the "need"
to clarify that...

I guess in case anyone thought
that we actually eat actual beavers' tails...
We don't. 

The pastries are very popular...

The thought to mention it...
I was walking down a street I used to live on, 
to look at the house, we used to live in...

The house we lived in when I was 12 years old. 
The living room I sat in with my mother
when she'd called the "pastor" to come over
to "break it to me" that my father's dead...

Anyway, I'd got to the end of that street...
At the end of the street, is the canal...

And I saw that they were taking the "shacks"
off the canal...

The "Beaver Tail" shacks...

They put the shacks up to sell "beaver tails"
and beverages like "hot chocolate"
to people ON the canal...

Because they'll stop along the canal
as they are skating on it.

I kind of explained to a girl in my knitting group. 
Because she just got to Canada in February. 

She's only seen the canal "frozen."
The water's really low so people can skate on it...

What the city does...
They "drain" the water out
and clean up all the garbage
people throw in it, 
and flood it enough to have a "surface"
to skate on...

In the summer, it has more water in it...

I don't know if she's seen the "locks" yet. 
Apart from the "locks" down town, 
there are other "locks" along the canal...

When the "locks" are closed, 
people can walk across the tops of them
to get to the other side of the canal. 

There are locks that kind of "connect"
the arboretum and the University...

You can cross the locks that "close."

They open and close
to act as "stairs" for the boats...

So one fills up with water, 
so the boat can go from one to the other, 
and down into the canal...

Then, from there, there's "locks"
that let the boats into the Ottawa river...

A lot of people come down here in the summer
with their houseboats.

There are docks, at the lake, near the arboretum. 

Anyway, she's got so much to learn about this city LOL.
Despite how it "looks" it isn't quite "like that."

You're okay, if you mind your own business, mostly. 

People come here thinking it's
"the land of opportunity"
but it's a "dive."

This country's been a "dive"
in "disguise" for a very long time...

People have some "grand ideas"
about how it "is,"
but it's not quite like they'd thought, 
or hoped. 

Speaking as someone who was born here...
In this city...

Sure, some good things about it...

But it's far from what it "could" and "should" be.
I'd like to say because of "the drugs,"
but it goes deeper than that.

The economy's busted...
A lot of "systems" are busted. 

And the programs that are 
"supposed to help people"
often "leave them behind"
and end up making things worse.

Like how I got left hanging on that move...

And how I was being treated afterwards.

Like "why are you calling?"
After I left 3 fkn messages
ABOUT WHY I WAS CALLING FFS.

To be told:
"Well, if you were moving
SOMEWHERE YOU CAN'T AFFORD
WE WOULDN'T HELP YOU."

1) WHY WOULD I MOVE
TO SOMEWHERE I 'CAN'T AFFORD'?

2) WHY WOULD I EVEN BE CALLING THEM
FOR MOVING 'ASSISTANCE'
IF I COULD HAVE JUST PAID THE MOVERS?

It's beyond DISGUSTING.
BEING TREATED LIKE THAT.

LIKE I HAD TO TALK ABOUT
THE VALIDITY OF MY MOVE
THAT WASN'T "APPROVED"
EVEN THOUGH IT WAS "VALID." FFS.

AND THEY COULD HAVE ASKED ME
TO MEET WITH THEM AT THEIR "OFFICE"
SO I COULD SHOW THEM PROOF
THAT I STILL HAD THE $300

THAT I PUT TOWARDS THE MOVE...

It's like even if something's "valid"
it doesn't get "approved"
because of "assumptions" etc. 

If they have the "power" to DENY YOU, 
THEY WILL. 

AND THEY DIDN'T GIVE A FK ABOUT IT.

UNTIL I KEPT ON THEIR @SSES.

And it wasn't ABOUT GETTING THE MONEY BACK. 
IT WAS BECAUSE MY FKN MOVE WAS VALID
THE WHOLE FKN TIME, 
YET THEY DIDN'T

And didn't care that it put me in a tight spot.

I'm making them wait... Now.

They made me wait for over a month. 
Her excuse was she was away
for the last 2 weeks...

WHAT ABOUT THE ENTIRE MONTH

She made it seem like I was just
impatient about THE MONEY.

IT WAS BECAUSE THEY FKN DENIED ME
TWICE RIGHT BEFORE THE MOVERS CAME FFS.

WITH HOW I WAS BEING TREATED?

To be treated like THAT, but it's about the MONEY?!!!

And by the time they want it back,

The people who work FOR these "programs"
get paid by the government.
The government taxes them for their wages.

Income tax. Plus the GST etc...

I pay taxes, too. 
Just buying anything...

There are "goods and services" taxes...

It applies to "purchases."

Back when Harper was PM,
they combined the GST with the PST
to make the HST.

Harmonized Sales Tax.

They tax people even after death ffs.

People have to "settle your estate."
So they have to "pay your taxes"
that you owed up until you died FFS.

And my brothers and I will "inherrit"
our mother's debt...

Combined with ou individual debts.

One thing I'm really glad for...
Is that I never wanted a fkn credit card. 

I knew, that if I had one, 
I'd be responsible
for all the debt from just using it.

AND BESIDES, I ACTUALLY "NEED"
VERY FKN LITTLE IN LIFE.

Most people charge stuff on credit cards
that they don't actually "need."

I just never wanted a fkn credit card. 
I'm glad I never got one. 

I don't owe hundreds of thousands of dollars. 
I do owe a "sum"
but it's nothing "major."

But the point I was getting to
is that the "system" holds people back
from getting "ahead."

THEY GIVE MONEY JUST TO TAKE IT BACK FFS.

I'D RATHER NOT GET ANY FKN MONEY, PERIOD. 
TO HAVE TO PAY IT BACK?

Yet Canada can give millions of dollars
to people in other countries
to fight wars
THAT HAVE ZIP TO DO WITH US. 

To be "fair" shouldn't we be giving money
to both sides? Not just one against the other?
May as well, right?

He was saying that outside the city, where there are bears...

BEFORE EVEN GETTING A SH0T OFF...

And you need something other than a .22 or a .38
BECAUSE IF YOU TRY TO SH00T A BEAR
WITH A .22 OR A .38, 
YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO P*SS THE BEAR OFF.

He said it's like sh00ting at a car
with a pellet gun LOL.

The bear'd be like:

ON PERMITS TO SELL IT LEGALLY, 
AND TAXES FROM THOSE SELLING IT LEGALLY...

And I read something the other night
about how there was a 'shroom bust
in the "York region."
 
On stores selling it.
Because it can't be "monitored"
and it's psychedelics. 

Pot's not a psychedelic...
Just been treated as though it was
