No idea how it happened or what post drew anyone here or what,
but one day I got 100K views. In one day.
Up until a few years ago, still very anonymous
(which I wish to stay)
This was back a couple years ago
and I had no idea because I hadn't really
paid much attention to stats because I just like to write.
Been going this long, eh?
May as well keep going, besides getting some stuff
off my chest.
Since then, it's a stark difference, though.
Which feels weird.
Over 1k views on one post. It's nuts.
Never would have thought that.
Never saw any of that coming.
It was just something to do and it actually helped me out.
Just to be able to express myself.
If I can blog, you can, too.
20 years of my life on here. Crazy to think about.
Hiding behind a screen feels a bit better
because it's some sort of buffer, for me haha.
At one point I had RebelFX lol. So cringe.
Had forgotten about that.
Just was trying stuff out, I guess.
When I was walking home tonight,
I looked down and there were 4 bottles of cream soda
full with the caps still on.
I wanted to take them lol
but maybe a thing in me was saying:
What if this is some sort of soda trap? hahaha.
The things I find though.
One time, I was walking home,
I looked down and found $100.
I need to get to work on that thing tonight.
I'm catching up, though.
Then I'll do phase 2 lol.
Making progress with the second block of squares, too.
Those 70s squares. When the second block is done,
I'm thinking about making two beige blocks.
And do two corners of blocks, and two corners of beige.
THEN IT'LL BE OUT OF HERE.
AND I'LL NEVER HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN! 😂
Then there are other squares to join.
Squares I was given from another thing,
purple colors, a lighter shade and a shade darker than that.
When I join those squares, I'll do a border around those.
Then I made some squares to join, too.
I was going to join the squares I made with the squares
that I was given by the group but, they are different sizes,
and I'd have to make up for the difference to "make them fit."
Well fit enough to be joined, I guess.
So I'll keep them separate to be their own things.
The other thing I was making is a scarf thing,
it's pink and white and I made it with a loop stitch.
Then I cut the loops and combed it out to make it fluffy lol.
And I'll probably make more hats.
I haven't made a balaclava in a long time.
I've been meaning to make myself a blue one.
The one I made is a pink one. Not feeling the pink.
It was the first one I made and I kept it.
Made a couple of other ones and gave them away.
One to a buddy of mine, it comes with a story.
My buddy was going to be moving into one of the houses
that looked like each other in a little "court thing."
The people weren't home, the car was gone,
and my buddy just wanted to see how much space-ish
was on the first floor because he was going to be
getting one of those places.
And the guy came back when my buddy was taking a look.
I asked what he did when the guy came back.
He said he didn't do anything, he just got out of there lol.
So we had a joke that he should have a balaclava
with his first name on the front
and your last name on the back lol
as you're running away they see your last name lololololol
So I made him one and we laughed because it's our joke.
I remember helping him move into that place.
We used a sled because it was winter, the roads weren't plowed,
and we were just going up and around the corner lol.
Anyway, I mostly wear my favorite hat. I made it.
For a long time, I thought I'd lost it.
It really bummed me out when I thought it was gone.
One hat I made, I definitely lost. A few actually.
Mostly make things as gifts.
Imagine if I kept everything I ever made?
But a lot of things I'll probably keep forever.
I made some mittens, but I guess I should have gone down
in needle sizes because they came out so big.
So big that I can have a pair of mittens on inside those.
I save my "house socks" for home,
because I made the mistake of wearing a pair
inside my boots and I wore a hole in the sole
of one of those.
Luckily I have some of the same wool
to repair that, although repairing it...
It'll be challenging and require concentration.
Socks are great though and haven't made any for a while.
And I enjoy making hats. Takes about 4 hours, at most
to make a hat, or 2 and a half movies, lol
I don't put that "pom pom" on the top.
I made a reversible hat for someone I met online.
It's the only one I ever made.
It was a bit of a challenge because it's knitting
both the "outside" and the "inside" at the same time.
Can turn it to the red side as the outside and have black on the inside
or have black outside with red inside.
It wasn't so bad, actually. I've thought of doing it again.
It'd be good for making double sided squares.
You wouldn't believe the things I see in my crochet groups on FB.
Stuff that was actually hand made and they talk about
what patterns they used to make it or whatever else.
One lady was posting that she found a huge stash of free wool,
it was a big haul. I'd love to see what she got in it.
There are specialty yarns and stuff.
I like this stuff called fettuccini, it's like fabric in a stip
that crochets up thick.
It's like eye candy to me, I think about the stuff I can make lol.
Seriously, there are actually warehouse sales.
I've never been to one, but I'd go.
But I've got to use up what I've got here.
And I can get the squares out of the way.
And then get more squares and make some.
I'm also making another blanket and I've gotta get
more orange for it. Not that 70s orange.
I'm going to find a bright orange.
And the loop stitch uses up more yarn because
it creates a "shag" and I've experimented with that pink one.
So if I see it anywhere on anyone, I'll know I made it.
One time I saw a girl on the bus wearing a hat I made.
I just make them and I used to give the to the guild to "disperse."
The guild is great because it's a huge group,
and they have a "show and tell"
where they show thing they made
and tell us about it.
That's what section I go to in craft stores.
And I've gotten some from online shops before.
I used to buy pattern books and knitting magazine.
I still have them and haven't made many things from them.
The one I was excited about is written in Italian,
and it came with an engish version, but I seem to have lost it.
But it still had diagrams that I can use with some measurements.
And I had some made, I went to a church bazaar to give to them
to sell or keep for next year's one and sell then.
It's something to do, that I like to do.
Truthfully, it's about how it feels to be DONE it.
When it's completely finished.
No matter what it is.
I've only made 1 sweater, ever.
That's why the ladies who could do those ones...
To finish the sweaters that came with that hoard.
They were ready to be joined, even pinned together.
Just had to be sewn, but some collars done, too.
Pockets sewn, too.
I have wanted to design clothing, just...
I have my ideas, just haven't crocheted for myself
for a while. Mostly stuff for the group.
I like seeing what the other members are
But that double knit, I like that.
And there's a herringbone stitch where you knit it twice,
and makes it thick.
Well the needle sizes makes a difference
because the smaller the needles,
the tighter the stitches,
the bigger the needles the bigger the switches.
There are so many different stitches, it's nuts.
I saw a video of a lady doing French lace
with the bobbins and she was going so fast!
From years of experience, though.
I have over a couple of decades of experience
but I stuck with the things I like to make.
And some hats are freaking cool lol.
In general, I mean.
The lady whose house we're going to be meeting at
on Monday, she is the "keeper of the stash."
The stash of the stashes donated to us.
To make donation stuff with.
Also she has a spinning wheel and I'd like to see how it works
because I haven't gotten to see it in person,
only in videos lol.
A friend wants to try to get his dog's fur tuned to yarn
to make him a hat lol.
Ever seen how they make linen from flax?
There are videos about it on YT.
They grow the flax, cut it down,
and they put it in water for around a week or so
to soften the fibers to the point
that they start to separate.
It's dried out, and there are a couple other
processes they do.
Each process is about separating the fibers
and thin them out to a point they can start spinning it.
It's a cool process and pretty educational.
How they turn flax into linen...
Someone in our group was talking about needle felting.
I've heard of needle felting.
I like wet felting or soap felting.
Felt is made from this stuff that's like a tuft.
I can't really explain the type of fiber
because I can't remember the word for it right now,
but just think of it as a tuft type of fiber.
Roving! Boom! It's called roving.
The thing is that yarn can be deconstructed.
To make it fluffy and more "roving-like."
I've tried it, experiemented.
And hand rolled it to crochet with it.
Hand rolling is a skill that I'm not great in.
I just know that it can be done.
And I have a lot of it here,
lots of experiments to be had.
I've "watched" (listened to) many a series
while working on something.
Remember that series: My Secret Identity?
I rewatch it every few years lol.
And I've got the whole series of Leave It To Beaver
I used to watch it with my Grandparents
around lunch time.
We had these tv trays we'd have dinner
in that back living room.
THAT room was added on to the original house.
That one wall was brick, the brick that was the back
of the original house.
When I was alone in that house, that room was the "safe" room.
I kept the basement door closed when I was alone there.
Never heard any "voice" there, but that's when I started
"seeing" some stuff.
I'd start "getting names" and stuff like that.
Like being TOLD, in my mind, not in my ears.
Hard to explain that.
That's when that started, but a few times...
It scared me.
The times I was accurate.
One time, I was at a bar...
I kept getting TOLD a name...
And I kept getting TOLD a number.
Around 10 minutes later...
A guy comes in... I asked him his name
WAS THE SAME NAME.
I told him that, and I said I was told the number.
The number was 11.
His birthday, the 11th day of the 11th month.
THAT kind of stuff gets kinda freaky.
Used to happen more when I used to drink.
Kinda like some frequency thing.
I dunno.
And when the "guy" "told" me "how he died."
That was actually confirmed unexpectedly.
I know I can "see" some stuff
and I have been "told" some stuff.
Stuff that actually happened and stuff
I wouldn't have known.
Sometimes I think I should try to see
if I can do it at will, like when I want to see something.
It's just been stuff I didn't want to see.
That's why I haven't actively tried to do it.
And I just... Sometimes you wonder if it's you
or if it's real.
But shown enough confirmation. Personally.
That's why when I get any type of feeling in my gut,
I go with it right away.
Like the time I hid under a truck in someone's lane way
because when I had hitched a drive,
the guy touched my knee and I jumped out of his car.
He didn't just drive off, he drove around looking for me.
That's why the gut telling me to hide there, where I could still see..
Whre nobody would expect me to be,
and it was late, the truck was just sitting there.
Wasn't really anywhere else.
I had to see that he actually left before I could come out.
And I didn't want him to see where I was going.
So he actually had to be gone for me to come out.
I was watching from where I was.
But when you get a feeling in your gut,
and tells you to "get under the truck"
you just go with it. Don't question it.
Stuff like that could save your life.
Hitching rides with strangers isn't the best idea.
Because not everyone has good intentions.
He intended something by putting his hand on my knee.
And by driving around, looking for me
after I jumped out of his car.
But something I had to learn. Also to learn about my gut.
It's kind of neat, but still scary.
Depending on what you see, I guess.
And what I saw, nobost should have to see.
That's why I don't go there or try not to.
Sometimes, I just see it when I don't want to.
And easy to think it was just me.
Which I thought at first.
But a bunch of times it wasn't.
Times I wish it was.
Anyway, I don't usually talk about that stuff.
One, most people don't listen to me
Two, it's hard to believe
Three, it makes me seem "crazy"
Especially to people who don't believe in it.
And never experienced it.
But that back room, was somehow "outside" "the house"
because it wasn't "part" of "the house"
because it was added on to "the house."
Sometimes I wonder if the people who live there, now
have experienced anything there,
especially in the basement
where I had my first experience.
Or the first I can remember.
I was sitting on my bed and the closet door
opened and closed
as though someone was walking through it
and closed the door behind them.
It took me a while to get up from my bed,
and I did look in the closet.
I was scared, but I did look.
But maybe whatever came out,
instead of gone in, but that just occured to me
just now and now I feel weird.
There was nothing in there except for the clothes
hanging up in there.
I'll always say I'm happy there wasn't anything in there.
But maybe why there wasn't was because it came out of there.
But I hadn't seen it whatever, I couldn't see it.
But it looked as though someone walked through
and closed the door behind them.
When I told my Grandmother, finally,
I guess after the shock wore off,
she said that closet, before it was a closet,
it was the door to the cellar.
I used to be not a fan of the "laundry room."
I usually had to have that door closed.
When my bed was downstairs...
When I was a baby, my crib was in the basement.
I don't remember that time,
but I remember that house from when I was very young.
I used to slide down the stairs on my butt when I was
as small as to wear those footed pajamas lol.
Imagine brown shag carpeting.
So I was around 13 and I was trying to tell myself
not to be scared of being in the basement
and that... happened.
Feet away from me. I saw this.
Just one of those things you don't forget.
Definitely makes you believe, after these things.
I had a thought that maybe there's more activity near water.
"Something" that... "provokes the thoughts"
of people who've gone over them.
That one video, I won't forget.
The Niagara Falls, area...
It used to be called Clifton.
They used to have a coffin factory a long time ago.
The falls actually receed. You can tell
when you compare a picture from the 50's to now.
The water "erodes" the "face" of the falls.
Which keeps pushing them further back, bit by bit.
Not sure by how much by year, probably not noticeable,
but it happens.
I love that I got to go with my son, at least once,
but I hope we get to go again.
Just last trip was sh*t.
Our bus crashed. Got hurt.
Bunch of bs.
It'd be nice to have a good trip, though.
We had a good time the time we did get to go.
We went to the museums and stuff.
Does kind of have a bit of a "haunted" feel,
that "town."
It's not quite a city although it's called one.
Some cities are small-ish.
I was watching something about Canada,
and someone said that English is the second language and the first is Punjab.
And third is Mandrin.
I went to an all asian mall before. It was wild.
In BC the China town has blocks,.
Here, it's maybe a block, and right next to
Little Italy which is one street.
Alright, well, I should get a few things done now.
You'll probably hear from me again.
