Portaging

I came across a video tonight where a crew of 8 people
took an old fur trader route from Lake Winnipeg
to the Hudson Bay.

They had to keep it as true to "period" as possible.
They were going for 1840's.

The tools they used, techniques they used, food etc.
It was good! It's on the Absolute History Channel. On YT.
Found it interesting.

Just been tired lately.
Keeping a very low profile.
A couple of ladies want to learn to knit
so we're working out a time and place to meet up.

I'm kind of still bugged by sh*t that happened.
Because had they minded their own business...

But had I not gone through that sh*t...
Where would I be?

If they hadn't been on that show, the rowers
wouldn't have experienced that.

They weren't portaging canoes, though.
A big 40ft boat they had to repair several times.

I had a dream where I was going to a cafe
that was inside a house, but I went to the wrong house.

And she did let me in to talk to her.
And I did apologize,
but she left to go to bed and she thought I was leaving.

For whatever reason, I sat down, at her kitchen table,
got into reading, and forgot to leave.

The look on her face when she realized I was sitting there!
Then I realized I should have left, apologized again,
and actually left.

Since they turned the heat on in this place,
it's been like a sweat lodge.

I like being warm, but too hot is too hot.
I get why people who are used to hot climates
want to keep their climates warm, though.

It seems that politicians forget that raising TAXES
RAISES THE COST OF HEATING.
NOT JUST EATING.

CANADA'S GOTTA GET IN GEAR FFS!
TANK THE ECONOMY EVEN MORE...
THEY'LL HAVE THEMSELVES TO THANK FOR IT.

When people are leaving Canada...
WHAT DOES THAT SAY?

We're not even a fraction of what we used to be.

At least they're cracking down on the illegal poaching...
About time.

Cracking down is one thing,
but to actually stop it is another.

BECAUSE CAN'T BE THERE EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY.
OR OF THE NIGHT.

THERE'S A THING CALLED STOPPING OURSELVES,
THOUGH.

I've never fished for salmon
BUT I NEVER HAD TO DO IT BEFORE
TO REALIZE WHY FISHING FOR SALMON
UPSTREAM AND PREVENTING THEM
FROM SPAWNING
ISN'T A GOOD IDEA.

Even things I wish I never did
WERE NOT GOOD IDEAS.

BUT I COULD HAVE STOPPED MYSELF, RIGHT?

Wish I wasn't so tired all the time, though.
