Thinking Of Him

Over a year ago, maybe close to 2 years ago...
I was walking through a park with a friend....
He saw a guy laying on the ground
and he went to go check him out first....
Because if he was dead, he didn't want me to see that...

He said he was still alive... He was covered in puke...
Thought he had drank too much....
But I felt something wasn't right.
He really did not look good...

Like he was so close to death...
He may have even shat himself...
There were a lot of insects around him...

And he wasn't able to talk...
I asked him if he could hear me....
He indicated that he could hear me....
So I told him to stay with us
and that he was going to be okay...
I asked my friend to call an ambulance....

I told him not to roll over onto his back...
I let him lean against my leg so that he wouldn't roll onto his back...
Because if he started puking again,
he could choke....

Anyway, we stayed until the ambulance came...
We were both still tripping so my friend wanted to get out of there.

I think it was my second time taking ecstasy...
And it was an intense experience for me.
Not just the drug, but finding the guy....
When the paramedics came, they lifted up his bag
and there was nothing in there except two empty pill bottles.
And when the guy realized
that I realized that he had been trying to kill himself....
He started crying...
I told him I wasn't judging him....
That I was happy that we were there to find him when we did.
If we hadn't found him and called an ambulance....
Would anyone have found him?
Would it have been too late when they did?

He was with it enough to hear me,
and know what I was saying...
But he couldn't talk...
He was in a bad state.
I still think of him...
It's the same month as when we found him...

And I still think about the guy.
Maybe he still thinks about me....
How I was there to help him when he needed it.
How I was there to ask my friend to call an ambulance for him....
How I was someone to lean against so that he wouldn't roll onto his back...
How I was a voice that told him to stay with us...

I think about that day and about him....
Some stranger who needed help
and how I was put on his path to help him.
