The Coffin Dream

So I had a weirdly vivid dream
that I was walking around some apartment buildings,
and a group of girls were excavating or something,
it turned out that they were digging up dead dogs. I don't know why.
Then there were these other girls...
They were being mean and someone taught them a lesson.
I forget all the detail of the lesson, but they weren't mean after that.

Then I was going to my Auntie's funeral. There weren't a lot of people there.
Nobody from my side of the family except for me.
When it was my turn to go up to see her, they closed the lid and lowered her down.
So I didn't get to see her or say anything to her.

As I was leaving the funeral home, there looked like there was a door
to the side, but it wasn't a door. It was where they were lowering coffins down.
When I saw one coming, I stepped away. A girl came
and she was tugging at the ropes and she was going to get squashed.
I yelled at her to get away from there. She wanted to know why.
So I told her that's where the coffins were being lowered down.
She screamed and ran away, except she ran outside.
She ran into a pond, I jumped in to pull her out. I did,
but she had lots of water in her lungs because she was screaming
as she went underwater. I tried to get the water out of her lungs,
but I couldn't. She was only about 8 or 9 years old.

The thing with learning C.P.R is that people rarely get the chance to use it.
It's one of those things that someone has to practice to get good at doing.
And there's a window of time that it will work
because a person can die pretty quicky without air.

Usually, people will screw it up somehow the first time they do it.
Because they never had the opportunity to do it before.
Unless they happen to get lucky.
I've seen it done, I did it on a dummy, but doing it on a dummy
isn't the same as doing it on a person who actually needs it.

I guess trying counts. Because I tried to save her.
She was scared by the coffins. She ran into the pond screaming.
By the time I ran down there and got her out,
there was very little I could do. I needed help to help her.
I know it was just a dream, but it was very vivid.
