Can't Even Make It Up

Today I went to the library. Hadn't been for over a week.
When I go there, I went straight up the escalator and I went to retrieve the book.
As I got up to the top, there was a book right on display...
Its title is "You Are Not Alone."
Of all the books to be the very first book I saw...
Then when I went to get the book, it was easy to find,
I got to go straight to it within seconds, without having to look for it.
The last time, I was having a hard time looking for it,
it turned out that I was in the wrong isle.
Sometimes you're looking for the right book in the wrong isle.

So someone was sitting in my spot again, so I went to the front, again.
I read most of the second chapter.
Something told me to stay and keep reading until 5 o'clock.
I'll write about what I was reading about today. In the next post.
It's about the drive of control.

Anyway, as I was going back up the escalator to put the book back,
I got a little nudge from someone behind me
and a voice says, "hey, nice coat!" I was wearing my leather trench coat.
(I'll tell you the story about how it came to be mine).

So I turned around to say thank you.
When I turned around, he saw that I was wearing my Union Jack hat,
and he says with his British accent, "Nice hat, too!"
He asked me if I was from England. It turns out that he is.
He's only been here since the summer.
Just a chance meeting. Been meeting people unexpectedly.
It was a nice encounter. Just seemingly random.
But had I left earlier when I was getting the urge to go,
I wouldn't have been on the escalator at the same time.
There was a reason why I was being 'told' to stay until 5 o'clock.
The timing would have been off if I had left earlier.

I was just appreciating the breeze that comes from the air flow
that hits me in the face gently as I ride up the escalator,
it's one of my favorite parts about going to the library.

I never expect to meet anyone when I go there.
I just go to read and take notes, then go home.

It's always good to make friends.
Never know who we'll meet, or why.
But everyone knows something we don't. Everyone.

"When the student is ready, the teacher appears."
