Quotes

"Life is like a bicycle. To keep balance, you must keep moving forward."
-Albert Einstein.

"The secrets to getting ahead is getting started."
-Sally Berger.

To combine these two quotes:

"The secrets to getting ahead and keeping balance
are: getting started and moving forward."

There's another, but I don't know who said it:

"The greatest weapon against stress
is our ability to choose
one thought over another."

Anyway, I read something that I thought was interesting.
9 Basic Human Needs. There are 8 that I've been considering for a while.
The 8 I've been thinking of sort of relate to this, but are different from these.

1) The need for attention
2) Mind-body connection
3) Purpose and goals
4) Connection to something greater than ourselves
5) Creativity and Stimulation
6) Security and Safety
7) Intimacy and connection
8) Sense of control
9) Need for Status

These can be connected to the 8 that I think about often:

1) Security
2) Comfort
3) Predictability
4) Competence
5) Worthiness
6) Contribution
7) Importance
8) Significance

I think the 'need for attention' could go under importance.
People don't really 'need' attention unless they are really young
and still need nurturing from their parents.
But it would be nice is we had people to at least listen to us.
I guess to listen, we need to be paying attention.

Mind body connect could go under comfort.
We're most comfortable when our minds and bodies are connected.

Purpose and goals can go under significance, contribution, competence,
and under predictability.

Connection to something bigger than ourselves goes under significance.

Creativity and stimulation go under competence, predictability, comfort,
and contribution.

Security and safety matches security.

Intimacy and connection goes under significance, importance, predictability,
and comfort, safety, competence, and worthiness.

Sense of control is more a comfort thing and about predictability than anything.

The 'need for status' is probably about competence, contribution, and worthiness.
Maybe importance, and significance.
