Must Be Losing It

Work is... Just not going well. I've decided to quit.
By the end of the summer I am out of there. Made up my mind.
That place is just no good for me. It's time to move on and start something new.
Been there for over two years now. Coming up on my third year. It's just time.

I've had some really dark thoughts while I've been there.
Not stuff I normally think about.
I remember having thoughts like that when I used to work there over 10 years ago.
I won't go into detail because they are pretty disturbing.
I thought it was because of the depression and/or the medication.
I don't know what it is about working there late at night,
but it just gets to me in ways I can't even begin to explain.

The last time I was there, just a couple of nights ago,
I was working alone in an office.
It was a large office with about six smaller offices in it.
I was completely by myself. So I had been there for a while,
I'd cleaned a few of these smaller offices.
Then I heard the door to the corridor close.
I thought it was probably a security guard patrolling the area.
Thought nothing of it, just kind of startled me a bit.
But then I heard something else. It was the coffee maker.
It was making the sounds it makes when someone turns it on.
It would have started to brew had there been any water in it.
I thought that was odd since I was the only one there. I hadn't touched it.
I hadn't seen anyone pass me to get to it.
What was even more odd than that was that I looked at the buttons on it.
All of them were off. I even touched it to see if it was in fact heating up. It was.
I couldn't switch it off because all the switches we already in the off position.
So I felt like I had to unplug it. Which I did.

So after that, I just went back to what I had been doing.
Just find it strange that it started up like that.
If the button or switches were switched on, that would be one thing. They weren't.
In my mind there just is no reason for it to have started up.
It's not a new machine.
I didn't see anything to suggest it could have been put on a timer.
Reminds me of when that dryer started up by itself. I was there alone.
Normally, someone would have to
insert their laundry card, choose the settings, and press start.
It hasn't happened since.

Anyway, I just found it odd.
