Not Sure What to Think

A couple of weeks ago.... I was waiting for a bus at a mall.
Was going to the beach to catch the sunset.
I had some non-alcoholic beer with me.

Anyway, a guy got to the bus stop. Thought nothing of it at the time.
Just assumed he was waiting for the bus. I saw the bus pass on the other road. Passing the stop.
So I decided to walk to the beach. Thought the guy had the same idea.
Thought he lived in the area. Would have made sense.
Because I thought he was waiting for the bus.

So when I got to the beach, I saw him there. Still thought nothing of it.

I found a tree to sit under and put my jacket on the ground to sit on it.
Then as I was getting comfortable.
That guy came up behind me and sat next to me.
Putting his jacket on the ground next to me like I'd done.

I didn't know what to make of it.
Didn't seem like he wanted to cause any trouble, but it was creepy.
Alarm bells went off when he started asking me personal questions.

"Where do you live?"
"Do you live alone?"
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Where do you work?"
"Ever have sex on the beach?"

We talked a while. He told me about when he used to be a truck driver
and that he lost his license.
He told he he has two daughters and he used to be married.
We talked for maybe an hour.
Then when the sun went down, he decided he was going to leave.
Which was a relief for me. I was still on edge.
He'd said that he saw me at the bus stop and went over to get a better look at me.
He wasn't waiting for the bus. He was there because I was there.
Then followed me a few blocks to the beach.
It was one of the creepiest moments of my life.
Now I feel like I ought to watch my back.

I guess part of me was flattered. I think that is what he was going for.
But the rest of me was like "Whoa, dude! WTF?!"
How would he have reacted if one of his daughters
had come to him to tell him some creepy dude was following them?

As he was leaving he asked me
if I wanted to see something to remember him by....
I assumed he wanted to expose himself to me.
So I didn't want to take any chances.
I felt kind of scared. Well so on edge I could have fell off that edge.
There's a reason I carry pepper spray, although I've never had to use it.
He's just lucky that he didn't try anything because I could have really hurt him.
