It was weird... The horoscope in the newspaper the other day... It said everything happens for a reason and if I keep my eyes and ears open, I might get a glimpse of the big picture... There were a bunch of little things that seemed like coincidences. There was a song playing on the radio while I was reading about an accidental death... It was so poignant. It was supposed to be playing while I was reading it. I was supposed to be reading it at that exact same time. It wasn't the same article I was reading... I was reading the article in the Ottawa Sun yesterday.
The man who was killed was only 23, yet he was a recent graduate of Ottawa University. He had a future. So much potential and this is why "In a world we cannot change" I wish I could turn back time and done something to prevent it.
I love that show called Early Edition. The main character on that show, "Gary Hobson" gets tomorrow's new today. He knows a day ahead of time what is supposed to happen and yet he prevents it somehow. Saving lives. It is one of my favorite shows even though it is no longer on the air. Reading that article made me wish it hadn't happened so that I could go and save his life. He was deemed a 'free spirit'. And the song had the lyrics "If I stayed here with you girl, things just wouldn't be the same because I'm free as a bird now and the bird you cannot change" ( I always thought the line was "In this world we cannot change") and "If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember me?" If I was able and capable to change things maybe I'd get tomorrow's newspaper and I could have saved him.
I meet people for a reason. I think I do. Whether I meet them in person or just online. Words are words when communicating, but the meanings change and everything is changing from day to day....
Today is my mother's 51rst birthday and it is also the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Things happen for a reason. My mother was born so that I could be born. I was born so that my son could be born... Maybe there are other reasons for our existences, but fundamentals are fundamentals. Maybe without JFK getting killed the timing would not have been right for Martin Luther King to make his "I Have A Dream" speech... One tiny drop in the bucket can set the stage for a tidal wave... Not saying that the assassination of JFK was a mere drop in a bucket. Not saying that at all. Just saying that it takes a catalyst for each catastrophe... But from each catastrophe, something culminates. From each culmination comes a cultivation. From each cultivation comes culture. But why do we have to start by something so destructive to open our eyes and see the light???
