Buzz Buzz Little Bee

The other day, on my way home, I found a bumblebee that was in need of water. Been such a drought here. Hasn't rained since Tuesday last week, but before that, it hasn't rained in quite a while. Been an unusually hot and dry summer here. Way beyond what is considered average here.

So, anyways, this bee was just laying there on the sidewalk, not moving. I scooped him up and took him home. He was hyperventilating and his little feet were twitching. I gave him some water and some honey. I thought of giving him honey because it's familiar to him (or so I am assuming). Gave him a piece of apple, too, which I think probably is unfamiliar to him. I guess I'm going to have to get some pollen from some flowers for him.

So far this summer, I saved a moth from a spider web, rescued a dragonfly from drowning, and now this bee. I think he's starting to do a bit better. He's still weak though. I have to try to keep him warm, should be no problem in this heat, and hydrated. I haven't seen him eat or drink yet. He's lifting his wings a bit and moving one of his legs. I don't know if he's going to get better, but there's hope. At least he seems to be getting a bit better. Not hyperventilating anymore or twitching like he was.

My cat is so jealous of the bee. Every time I pick it up, my cat starts meowing for attention. His wings seem fine, just his legs I guess and he's not buzzing at all. This is the first time I've ever taken care of a bee. It's interesting and totally worth it, especially if he makes a full recovery.
