I like reading the newspaper some days. Sometimes there are some good articles. I read one a couple of days ago about a boy who went to his school and raised over 400 dollars for an elderly man who'd been beaten and robbed of 200 dollars. The kid made twice as much as the man had been robbed of. Anyways, the man went to the boys school and the boy gave him the money. It made me cry when I read it. I'm so proud of that boy. It just makes me happy to know that this kid wanted to help him... I seriously cried.
Another story: A volunteer who was manning a post for a race in Ottawa, abandoned his post so thousands of racers went the wrong way and were disqualified. The guy who thought he had won the race looked devastated. To me, he still won it. I think that the race course should have been marked better. Barricades don't do much. Yes, they prevent unwanted traffic flows, but other than that... They should have had brightly coloured flags hanging from lamp posts, something to signal that they were going the right way regardless of the barricade/posts along the way.
I don't know what the heck is up with this city. First of all, nothing much ever happens in Ottawa. Secondly, if there is something going on, you hear about it when it's over. Why is that? They complain that not enough people attend the events... WELL.... MAYBE SOMEONE SHOULD ADVERTISE THEM! For gosh sakes, it gets rediculous. Nobody tells anyone anything about upcoming events. Pretty much the only people who know about them are the ones organizing them in the first place!
Help us out here! If you are co-ordinating an event.... Tell the newspapers or the radio stations. Let someone know so that people can actually enjoy doing something in Ottawa!

Funny, I boycott media in general. I rarely watch TV and no newspapers. The young boy is a good story though....
