Commitments and Considerations (Part 3)

Today has been interesting. In a good way.
I feel like some things are already starting to come together.
I heard back from a potential client today.
I sent an email with a video that I made showing a website that I'm working on.
They asked me to send me their resume. So I did.
They also asked if I was registered with an employment agency.
Said that they have an idea that could assist me.
So perhaps they are considering hiring me through the agency.
That could work. Although I still need some time off to go to the funeral.

My friend has been teaching me more about systems and protocols.
For each protocol there is a specific port. I'm also learning the OSI Model.
That's how data units are sent across the internet.
Bits and bytes, packets, and segments. There's 7 layers.
So I got a call from my friend and we discussed these things,
also I took a practice test and passed. It was one of many tests in the exam.

It's funny that these avenues are opening up for me now.
It seems like a good close of the year. It wasn't the best start.

I'll have to see what tomorrow brings, but I'm pretty excited.

All I need is a nudge in the right direction that will help me move ahead
with what I want to do in my life.
A chance to use my skills and further develop them
while I further develop myself and further my education.

The field I'm studying to get into... I thought it started at 70K/year.
It starts around 35K/year. Which is still awesome. I wouldn't say no to it.

If I'm given an opportunity to take while I'm studying,
I'll probably take it. As long as it's in line with my goals.

Anyway, I'm still reading this section about commitment.
There's a few parts that have jumped out at me:

"Making commitments within a context of a principle,
provides clarity while serving as a guide in deciding
both the what and the how in regard to the next steps."

"While a case can be made for flexibility,
progress requires choosing a direction from available options
and committing to a clearly defined outcome."

"Be sure to look behind your surface reasons
for your more substantial motives."

"Seeking clarity enables you to direct energy and resources
to what is important."

It's creativity combined with critical thinking.
One I have some experience with, the other I need practice with.
They both assist in making choices that maximizes results.

"Consider the best that could happen
by fulfilling this commitment at the highest level."

"Committing publicly is likely to expose you to criticism."
I rarely talk about my goals anymore.
I get a lot of negative feedback. Not a lot of support.
But not everyone will support us.
A lot of people don't like to see others succeed.
Because it reminds them that they aren't.

Everyone can make choices. They just don't see their options as choices.
They haven't considered their options.
They lack direction and focus. And determination.
I am working on this area. I didn't always have these.
Studying helps me focus, reading helps me focus.
Writing helps me focus. Working on a project helps me focus.

One more: "Transformation requires commitment to specific behaviors."
Behaviors that support your goals. A lot of my behaviors sabbotaged my goals
and I wasn't aware of it. Even though it should have been obvious.
All kinds of thing weren't obvious to me.

A lot of these breakthroughs came as a result of realizing some things.
Some things needed to be pointed out to me, some I realized on my own.
It always feels better to realize them on your own,
but both are a sense of relief.

I'm looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings.
