Still on that "Naked and Afraid" kick. Until there are no more episodes.
We watch a few episodes each night.
Also been watching a show from the U.K called:
Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners.
It's about people who have O.C.D and they go into a hoarder's home
to help them clean it and get it functional and beyond.
On the last few episodes of that show,
they had a device where they were swabbing every day items
or places to see how much bacteria is lurking.
It's a device that is used at hospitals.
Anything 500 and under is considered safe enough for food preparation.
There was a chick on there who is obsessed with bleach
and she actually steam cleans her toilet.
They swabbed her toilet to see what kind of reading they'd get.
It was only a 3! That was the lowest reading on the show, ever.
One hoarder woman on the show had goats in her house.
5 of them. The biggest of them weighed more than a pony.
It kind of reminded me of the strange pets people have.
Like on the show "Hoarders," a guy had over 2,500 rats.
He started off with only 3 and they bred and bred.
He had rats coming out of the walls. They were everywhere.
In the walls, in his furniture, even made nests in his mattress.
It was to the point that he couldn't sleep in his own home.
He slept at his office and went home to feed his rats.
He was allowed to keep one of his rats and he knew which one he wanted.
It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
I'm content just having one cat. She can be a handful at times.
She is extremely stubborn.
Yesterday, I picked up my knitting for the first time in months.
She always wants to be on my lap, but I don't want her fur on my knitting.
I kept putting her back down on the floor when she jumped on me.
She started launching herself at me.
Speaking of cats launching themselves...
The show "Alone" has these little captions with facts.
One said that a cougar can pounce from 40 feet away.
Imagine a leopard or a cheetah? That's crazy and scary.
There were treats called Pounce. I haven't seen them in a long time.
Maybe they stopped making them since Temptations are so popular.
I admit I buy my cat Temptation treats.
She knows some words and knows what they mean.
One of those words is "treats."
One day I was in the shower and she was on the bathroom counter,
and I wanted to get a reaction out of her so I said "treats" to her a few times.
Well, that came back to bite me in the butt.
Because now, EVERY time I take a shower, she wants treats!
No matter who takes a shower, if she hears that shower,
she thinks treats automatically. She'll scream at me until she gets some.
It's ridiculous. At least that is the only time she expects treats.
She also knows the word "Sit." So she has to sit to get her treats.
Which she does. I don't know what they put in those treats,
but cats will do tricks to get their treats.
Like this cat. Cats are smarter than people give them credit for.
My cat only sits for treats, but that's good enough.
She knows up to 7 words. That I know of.
She might know more than those, but she doesn't let on.
At this moment, she is sunning herself on the window sill.
She slept on the couch all night and this morning
I was wondering where she was. Then I saw her in her sun spot.
She has her spots she likes to go. Once I couldn't find her anywhere.
It was really strange because it's not a huge apartment
and usually she's so easy to find.
When I did find her, she was sleeping in the recycling bin.
She has a thing for plastic bags, she likes the sound they make.
She loves to sleep on them. That's why she was in there.
It was the first time I caught her sleeping in there
and she hasn't done it since.
I think one of the weirdest places I caught her sleeping
has got to be the bathroom sink. She fits in there perfectly.
It's weird because she knows water comes out of the faucet.
I've had her since 2001 and I know she's been owned by 3 other people.
A couple I knew had her before me, and someone had her before them.
I got her when I was living in a rooming house.
The superintendants had her before me, they split up.
The guy kept her and we switched rooms.
He couldn't keep her in the small room so he gave her to me.
He'd be surprised that she's still kicking.
I'd love to tell him if I ever got the chance.
I think she stays for the Temptations, the bacon, and the cuddles.
She loves me and I love her. She's taking a shine to my boyfriend, too.
She'll opt to lay on his lap instead of mine sometimes.
She did that when I got back from my trip to see my boyfriend.
I asked my brother to take care of her for a few weeks.
When I got back, my cat would look at me and go sit on my brother's lap.
Like "I'm his cat now."
I'd love to go camping, but I couldn't take her with me
and someone would have to take care of her until I got back.
Maybe my brother would, again. He might.
Also, I'd love to go back to Niagara Falls.
We'll see if I can do that again. September is a better time to go.
Even October. I'd probably go in October if I could.
My Great-Aunt's birthday is in October.
She will be 103 this year. Time is precious and fleeting
so I'd love to spend some more time with her.
Which reminds me that I should write her another letter soon.
I still send her letters and photos.
I made her a shawl and sent it and she sent me a thank you card.
In the card, there was her new address.
My Uncle asked me how I found out that she moved.
I told him that I sent her a package and that she sent me her new address.
Well, actually, my mother's cousin sent it for her.
She's taking care of her now and she's in a nursing home now.
Up until her sister passed away, the two sisters lived together for years.
For probably longer than I've been alive.
I've only been to Niagara Falls twice in my life.
Once when I was 3 with my mother, and once in 2014.
I have a photo of my Great-Aunt and I.
I was a baby and I was sitting on her lap.
I should make a copy of that photo and send it to her.
It was really hard on them when my Grandmother passed away.
Then 4 months later, one of the sisters passed away.
Now Auntie Margaret is the last one left.
My Grandmother came from a family of 15 kids.
Auntie Margaret is the oldest.
I can't imagine having 15 kids...
Auntie Margaret didn't have any kids.
She never married. Neither did Auntie Joyce.
My Grandmother's maiden name is Kirk which is Gaelic for Church.
She was born in Welland, Ontario near Niagara Falls.
She joined the army when women were first being let into the army.
Met my Grandfather in the army and they married in 1945.
That was the year the second world war ended.
I guess if it weren't for WWII, I wouldn't be alive.
My Grandparents probably wouldn't have joined the army
and they wouldn't have met.
If my parents hadn't met, I wouldn't be here.
I guess that is the more accurate thing to say.
If it wasn't for WWII, my mother wouldn't be here.
Well, I guess I'd better get going and do some stuff today.
Save some things to write about for another day.
