Principles Part 3

4) Think Win - Win.
   On the principle of abundance.
   The paradigm of gain.

On the flip side Win - Lose
 On the principle of scarcity.
 The paradigm of loss.

"Agree to disagree agreeably."
"You cannot hold people accountable for results if you supervise their methods."

A win - win agreement (stewardship agreement) can:
clarify and manage expectations,
creates a standard by which to measure success.

5 elements of a stewardship agreement:

1. A clear description of desired results. A visual image of desired results.
2. Teach people the guidelines. What to do, but not how to do it.
3. Identify the resources.
4. Identify accountability agreement
5. Identify consequence if results are not reached.

5) Seek first to understand, then be understood.
"Reply with the intent to understand, not to respond."

"A satisfied need no longer motivates."
"To be with another in this way, means that for the time being, you lay aside your own views and values
In order to enter another's world without prejudice. In a sense lay aside yourself. This can only be done by someone who is secure with themselves, who know that they will not get lost in the world of the other." - Carl Rogers.

6) Synergize

The spirit of 4) and 5) combined. The new insights based on the results of 4) combined with 5).
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
