I've been thinking about things tonight and it's not just that motivational video I posted that got me thinking. I was thinking the other night, too about what I ought to do with my life, to try to better myself. I do have some potential. Even if it is limited, even if I am the one who is limiting myself....
I want to go further.... I took a walk tonight. After my book club meeting (every second Monday). I walked along the path next to Byron Street. I used to live on Byron Street. Anyway, I walked along until I saw a park... What attracted me to the park was the bright lights. The kind of lights they turn on for sports. There were a bunch of guys there. I think they were playing football. I decided to walk past them. I decided they were all probably too young for me. Hahaha, but I still walked past. Then, I found a set of swings. I went swinging. I kept saying, to myself: I wanted to go higher and higher. Life is like learning how to push yourself on the swing. At first, you get someone to push you, but then you have to learn how to get yourself going. Once you can get going, it gets easier to get higher, then higher. But eventually you gotta stop yourself and get off the swing because you can't spend your whole life swinging. Also there are the ups and downs of swinging.
Anyway, it felt good. To swing for a bit. Even if it was a bit distracting to them with the football practice. They weren't playing football, but getting coached or something. I didn't stay long. I kept thinking of a poem... I can't remember who wrote it. I can only remember the first line: "She walks in beauty like the night". I did have some vodka tonight. I couldn't help it.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I have to go to the post office early. To mail a late birthday card, and then I'm going to meet one ex and do some legal stuff. Then I have an appointment for counselling. Then I have to meet another ex to hang out. Yup, busy day.
Anyway, I'm going to look for that poem and go to bed. Good night!
