For some reason, I've been thinking about the tour I did when I was 16. I was more reckless back then than I am now. I guess I have learned some responsibility over the years. I did everything without thinking and I realize how lucky I was to have made it back.
I summed it all up and I spent approximately 26 hours and 37 minutes in travel time in about 2 and a half months. That adds up to approximately 1,740.4 km. That's just 14 places. I went to Toronto 3 times, Guelph 3 times, Durham, Holstein, Lake Simcoe, Fergus, Kitchener, Plattsville, Richmond Hill, and eventually back to Ottawa.
Those were crazy times. I wasn't as concerned about safety as I should have been. In the end it all worked out. I doubt I'd do that again.
Last May I went to Magog, Quebec. Then spent a few days in a place two towns over from there.
I guess it was a good experience. Some parts were based on foolishness, but I did get to milk 3 cows with the milking machine. I got to ride in a tractor. I saw a wild turkey and you would be surprised at how fast those things can run for their size. I was expecting to see this pathetic excuse for a turkey, but the wild ones are a fair size. I was impressed. There was a farmer there who raised buffalos. I got to see them as we drove by the farm.
I don't know where I will end up next, but I have a feeling it will be another trip to southern Ontario. I want to take my Grandmother to Niagara Falls hopefully next month. I was supposed to go to a wedding in August, but I don't think I'll get to go. The wedding is going to be in Niagara Falls, too. I want to do some more traveling.
I remember how I felt when I was 16, going to all these new places, meeting new people. It was all so exciting. Maybe I just miss the excitement of all the unknown.
