I Am Home (After Trip)

So... The trip went well. A couple minor glitches.
Everything worked out well in the end though.
I'm glad that I am home. I'm not a fan of Toronto.

On my birthday, I went to the Funeral Home,
got to meet some cousins of mine. It was nice.
They had a lunch buffet thing afterwards.
Then I got a drive back to the hostel.
I then went out for a long walk.
I went to a cafe I stopped in at the day before.
I really like it there. Great people.
Niagara Falls is small so they pretty much know the locals by name.
They had a clothing swap thing in the basement
so I exchanged my old purse for another one.
I also grabbed a pair of socks and a pair of gloves.
I accidentally lost one of the gloves on my way back to the hostel.
I dropped it somewhere. Whoops.
They were good gloves. I miss them already.

Everyone had left, so it was me and the coffee guy.
He had a cigarette and I smoked like half a joint.
Got high in Niagara Falls on my birthday.

Rage Against The Machine was playing on my birthday.
I wanted to go, had nobody to go with.
Plus, I'm like super broke.
Of all the bands, I had been thinking about them before I left.
For a few weeks, actually. Didn't know they were going to be there.
Had I a date, I would have liked to have seen them.

I went to a coin shop and picked up some coins for my son.
His birthday is today. I have to try to get some sleep.
I have a kitchen shift tomorrow.
Thankfully, not as early as last week.

I met a guy from France and he and I played pool on my birthday.
That was super nice. Even though he was tired as f*ck.
The time difference, long flight, etc.

I met a couple from Mexico. I think they are just friends.
A girl and a guy. Their first time in Canada, too.
A couple guys from Germany. A chick from France, too.

So I shared a room with two girls. The girl from France,
and a girl from Mexico.
She's travelling with her companion to Ottawa.
They took an earlier bus than me and they are staying at the hostel.
Which is right around the corner from where the kitchen is.

He was asking me where he can buy snowpants.
I have a pair he can have so I told him I would bring them to him.
Since it is right around the corner from the kitchen.
So I can leave here early-ish and swing by there.
They need to be washed but I am so damn tired.
They are both young, like maybe 20.
I think I was the oldest at the hostel this time.
Usually a bunch of 20 somethings there.
But it is neat how they come from all over the world.

Niagara Falls is a tourist destination for sure.
The thing is that most people just go there to see the waterfalls.
So many businesses are going under
because they aren't in the vacinity of the waterfalls.
Like Queen Street and beyond...
Even the little diner I liked at the corner was closed for the winter.
It's almost like a ghost town. But it is winter.
Even though it is winter, they still get lots of visitors around the falls.
Other than that, there is the rest for the locals I guess.

I appreciated just being there on my birthday.
All the history... I learn something new every time I go.
There were maps of Laura Secord's journey.
Someone was talking about the underground tunnels.
She said they were used for the soldiers during the first world war,
which they likely were, but they were likely also used
for the underground railway. Smuggling slaves.

I got to feel the mist of Niagara Falls on my face for my birthday
and breathe that moist, oxygen rich air.
Something so magical about that place.
Magical and kind of tragic to see it like half dead.

When I was in Toronto, I missed my bus and had to exchange my ticket
which I had to pay a fee for... Luckily it wasn't a lot. Was worth it.

Anyway, I'll write more tomorrow...

There's a bunch of stuff I want to write about, but I'm so tired!
