Patience...

I know I have some patience,
because I CAN wait and HAVE waited
really long periods of time for what I've wanted.
Some things really are worth the wait and worth while.
I think the more faith we have in something,
or the more you believe that it is on the way,
the easier it is to wait for it.
One thing knitting and crochet has taught me is patience.
It took a lot of patience just to learn how to do those things.
Every project of mine takes time and effort.
So I have to be patient with the process and with myself.
In the time it takes to complete the project.
So many people expect instant gratification.
I've heard so many people tell me "I don't have the patience."
When they talk about my knitting or crocheting.
If making a blanket was instantaneous or less time,
they'd have the patience, but not to learn the process itself.
Not having the patience just means that they don't have any faith
in the outcome.
I always say, "I can and will wait, but I can't and won't wait for nothing."
If I'm sure that there WILL be a result, I can stick it through.
I don't care what the result is, even though I'm still hopeful.
I'd rather have ANY result than NO result.
That's why it's easier for me to have patience for some things
than others to have patience for the same things.

For an example...
For the past year, I've been in a long distance relationship.
Which hasn't always been easy.
It requires more patience than 'traditional' relationships.
Because we have to wait for months to see and be with each other.
But what makes it easier to wait to be with him,
is knowing that I WILL be with him. Eventually.
I have faith in him as a boyfriend, and as a person,
I have faith in our relationship.
I have faith in the fact that we'll eventually be together.
The stronger the belief/faith, the easier it is to have patience.

It's easy to get discouraged when we don't get the proof we want
or the proof we think we need.
Sometimes the things we want to have
are the things we are not yet ready to have.
I think the things I've wanted most in my life
haven't happened yet,
because I have to work on appreciating them
BEFORE they happen, not just after.
Also, I'm supposed to be working on appreciating
the fact that things happen when they are supposed to happen.
IF they are supposed to happen.
Not when I want them to happen, or because I want them to happen.
