Who Remembers The Flamingo?

I'm 30 as of today! It's my birthday! I'm going back to bed soon. I got a bit of a hangover from last night. I gotta get my kid from my Mom's place today. But I gotta pick up my Mom's glasses from My Grandmother's on the way there...

Anyway, I bet you're wondering about the title of this post...

In 1997, a flamingo ended up in Ottawa. It escaped from some sanctuary and made friends with a heron and some Canadian geese...

I could not find much on it, but I finally found something...

Fugitive Flamingo #1

Fugitive Flamingo #2

Fugitive Flamingo #3

Fugitive Flamingo #4

The flamingo was from Litchfield, owned by a former secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. The Flamingo was on the lam since September 26th, 1997. Almost 2 months before it was caught in the Ottawa River. It was big news in Ottawa so I'm surprised I can find so little on the net about it. I guess I gotta dig for it.

Anyway... Back to bed I go! I'll write again later!
